Brisbane has two main taxi companies Yellow Cab (131 924) and
Black and White Cabs (131 008). Taxi fares are regulated by the Queensland Government.
As an estimate a taxi from the city to the airport will cost about $33 and about $10 from the city centre to Fortitude Valley the area with the music scene and clubs. An additional fee is charged for taxis from the airport and Roma Street Transit centre.
There is a NightLink FlatFare taxi operating in the CBD and Fortitude Valley late on Friday and Saturday nights. This operates from George Street at the Treasury Taxi rank; Eagle Street at the taxi rank outside Friday's; Edward Street at the Edward Street secure rank and Warner Street in Fortitude Valley. The fare is based on zones similar to the Translink Zones and means for example a single fare in Zone 1 is $8 and a group fare is $24. Taxis are shared with others and organised by the taxi rank marshall at the taxi rank.
Brisbane has seven secure taxi ranks and found at Treasury rank; Albert Street rank; Edward Street rank; Eagle street rank; McWhirters rank; Ann Street rank and Caxton Street rank.
