One of the most popular day trips from Brisbane is the Gold Coast. This beach getaway provides plenty of sand and beach access whether visitors want to work on their tan or ride the waves. Theme parks are located nearby and the streets are lined with restaurants and shops. From Brisbane the Gold Coast can be reached in less than an hour when travelling by automobile.

Noosa at the top of the Sunshine Coast is about 2 hours drive away and a perfect coastal resort.
Further north is Fraser Island the largest sand island in the world that is best done as a one night stay.
South of the Gold Coast is Byron Bay which would be along day trip and best done as an overnight stay.
